The first step in the building process is the bending of sides. Each instrument sides are applied the same attention as the instrument's front and back which are book matched adding symmetrical beauty and overall strength to the 'ukulele. The sides are then placed in a bending jig and lightly misted to allow the wood to become pliable. Steady pressure is given to create the rounded sides of the instrument as the wood conforms to the bending jig. Once cooled, the newly bent sides are placed into an assembly jig to ensure its shape and then joined at each end with a Spruce block.
