Lina Girl (Naipo) Langi began her career as a vocalist, songwriter and musician in the 4-piece group, Nā Waiho’olu’u o ke Ānuenue (The Colors of the Rainbow). Nā Wai was started by four friends in 1988 while they attended the Kamehemeha Schools. After entering a statewide high school talent competition and placing third, they were discovered by local record producer, John Kahale Chang. They recorded their first record when three of the band members were still in high school.

In 2007, this fun and versatile wahine joined the Kanile’a stable of artists with her first instrument: a beautiful K-3 Tenor Premium. She can often be seen playing, singing and instructing alongside her husband and eternal companion Bruddah Sam Langi.

Lina Girl moved on to become one of Hawai’i’s top radio personalities with KCCN FM100 and Hawaiian 105 KINE FM in Honolulu. She has become a household name in the Islands and her voice can be instantly recognized anywhere!

In January 2015, Lina Girl joined the team at Kanileʻa ‘Ukulele lending her unique talents of connection and communication to the company’s marketing strategy. With her exemplary customer service skills and knowledge as a professional musician, she built strong relationships as the Artist and Public Relations specialist. You can see her more often as the featured interviewer in the Kanileʻa ʻUkulele Artist Spotlight video series.

In August 2023, Lina Girl stepped away from the company to pursue her interests in media broadcast and Hawaiʻi community involvement. She remains a part of our ʻohana of Kanileʻa artists along with her husband Bruddah Sam. You can also find her hosting the monthly ʻUkulele Club of Hawaiʻi, a community service proudly hosted by Kanileʻa. She still continues to play music, sing, emcee, dance hula, and represent her people with her God-given talents. We wish her the best and are excited to see what she will accomplish next!
