NEW KANILE`A 2019 PLATINUM: PINEAPPLE TENOR

KĀNE`OHE, HAWAI`I – In celebration of 60 years of Statehood for Hawai`i, Kanile`a `Ukulele introduces the first ever Kanile`a Pinepple Tenor as part of its on-going Platinum Limited Edition series for 2019. This instrument boasts a robust sound to go with its unique shape.

This instrument features a Cobra Slotted Headstock, a classic 17-inch Tenor scale and a Kanile`a first ever, pineapple shaped body. Accenting Premium Curly Mango is used to highlight the wood inlay rosette and Kanile`a armrest. Elements of the pineapple are clearly found in the side sound port as well as the logo.

“The Platinum series pushes me to my creative limits,” says Kanile`a master luthier and co-owner Joe Souza, “and I love it! Without ever compromising our Kanile`a sound, I’m able to design, test-build and prototype a lot of the ideas I have in my head. Then with feedback from our team and even our Kanile`a artists, I finalize the design for production. I believe we struck gold with this year’s 2019 Platinum.”

Like all 2019 Kanile`a instruments, the 2019 Platinum comes standard with the new TRU-R (Total Resonating `Ukulele-Redesigned) bracing system. Created by Souza, the TRU-R bracing system’s touch-release-touch set up guarantees an incomparable resonance and sustain while properly supporting and strengthening the integrity of the instrument’s body. Also comes with a custom-built carrying case.

About Kanile`a `Ukulele:

Joe and Kristen Souza are the dynamic husband-wife team who founded Kanile`a `Ukulele in July of 1998. Joe apprenticed under master luthier Peter Bermodez in 1990 and still continues to collaborate with “uncle Pete” to integrate traditional Hawaiian building techniques with today’s 21st century technologies. This mash up of old and new has proven effective in creating a full-bodied, rich sound that is distinctive of these playable masterpieces. All Kanile`a instruments are handcrafted in the Souzas’ hometown of Kāne`ohe, Hawai`i. Kristen oversees administrative operations, retail sales and dealer support. Together, the Souzas employ a team of expert artisans, retail salespeople and admin staff members.

 About the Kanile`a Platinum Series:

Introduced in 2015, the Kanile`a Platinum series showcases master luthier Joe Souza’s continuing development of `ukulele design features that take sound, intonation, resonance and aesthetics to a whole new level. Not only does this stretch the creativity of Joe Souza and his team, known as the Kanile`a Krew, it also makes this instrument super-exclusive, with just 200 built in a calendar year. The Platinum is built-to-order starting the first business day in January. On December 31st, the specs are put away and a new Platinum is introduced.
